Luisa & Max. Garden Wedding.

From the Bride:

We got married at my mother’s house near Urbino, in the region of the Marche in Italy, at the end of June.
I wore an Yves Saint Laurent dress, my husband’s suit was Boss.
We wanted it to be not much more than a really fun garden party, instead of a fancy white wedding. So I did my own hair and makeup, wore no veil, and instead of attendants, we had our two best male friends officiate. My stepmother did the table arrangements with wildflowers she and my girlfriends had picked the day before. More than 100 people made the long, complicated journey to our little village, from Los Angeles and Jakarta, Seattle and Salzburg, Boston and Berlin, New York and San Francisco.
Our flower girl was our close friend’s daughter, who was so brave and amazing. We had no music during the procession, much to my father’s chagrin, but as we walked down the aisle, all of our guests started singing together. It was the most beautiful music in the world and I could have never planned it. There was a lot of laughter and a lot of tears.
During the cocktail hour, we had champagne that my uncle brought down from his favorite vineyard in France and fried seafood in paper cones, seafood salad and piadine with sliced prosciutto. For dinner there were local specialties: tagliatelle with meat ragù, skewers of grilled seafood, roasted rabbit, stuffed tomatoes. We watched the sunset in the hills around us and danced until four in the morning.

Before the wedding, we tried not to have too many expectations at all. But it was, much to our surprise, the most beautiful day of our lives.
